Closet Space is a youth group for teens aged 13-19 who might be questioning their sexuality. We have groups meeting in Palmerston North at the Youth One Stop Shop (YOSS) in Edgewere Road.

We're back!

Closet Space meets every fortnight at YOSS from 5:30pm till around 7:30pm. Our first meetings are on the following dates:

• 7th August, 21st August,
• 4th September, 18th September,
• 2nd October, 16th October, 30th October

So what is Closet Space exactly?

Closet Space, is a queer* youth group in Palmerston North run by volunteers from MaLGRA (Manawatu Lesbian and Gay Rights Association). We are supervised by a social worker from MidCentral Health.

So what do you guys do at Closet Space?

We let people be who they are, in a safe and supported environment where they are informed, can network and come to terms with their sexuality. We’re here to create awareness of a community in a potentially isolating experience.

We hang out, play games, watch DVDs and chat about issues relevant to queer youth and occasionally venture out to youth friendly venues.

That sounds awesome, when is it?

We meet every 2nd Thursday, 5.30pm at Youth One Stop Shop (YOSS) on Edgeware Road. And every once in a while – we venture out to youth friendly locations.

That sounds really fun but what if I’m still unsure about coming?

Give us a call, text or fire us an email and we can arrange to meet you so they can ask questions, get info or just chat about what ever is on your mind with the reps.

How can I help?

It would be fantastic if you could help spread the word with the poster and the brochures, and even with word of mouth to anyone that’s interested. If you need more – tell us! (You’re also welcome to photocopy them).

We also hold themed fundraisers at ClubQ to support Closet Space and YOSS. So it’d be awesome to see you there!
